How do we create the book?

The project of a book starts in 2020 . The idea of ​​putting together all the words, terms or expressions on the subject of high ability. It is the beginning that will evolve over time, with reflection.

Building the plan

The evolution is first on the style, being simple in permanence. Because the list is large and there are complicated terms, expressions special to child psychology. My personal repertoire goes 120 words and expressions.

Likewise, the reading sum found on the internet appears. I must select the most relevant texts, understand them well, and make a simple summary. For now, the need to establish tables for better understanding. I must quickly present the psychologists with the most advanced theories.

So I make a worksheet to identify the terms and psychologists, make a table model, look for suitable illustrations. The work is big when this worksheet is finished. We are in March 2021.

Selection of tools

In front of the amount of information, the new reflection is how to make this book.

For the format of the book and the writing, I have 2 applications: Indesign from Adobe or Word from Microsoft. Adobe's tool is the most efficient for pagination, illustrations, etc. It really is very good. But application control needs good knowledge. It is not my case but ready to learn. The case of Word is easier. I am used to using the application for many years. But Word is not the most suitable for inserting and retouching illustrations and tables.

I finally took Word to buy time for an Indesign training.

To work the illustrations the natural solution is Photoshop that allows me the original creations and After Effect for the videos.

Also the organization of the folders of my computer, to save my files efficiently. Do not forget to create a USB memory to save everything in case of a computer problem.

Creating an agenda

The last reflection is on time. We are halfway through April 2021 . The first step to think, is when can I work? Life does not stop and the additional burden is great. I don't want to bother my family, even if they are in favor of this book making. The decision to work at night is the calmest period of the day for everyone.

The time estimate is on the number of words. I do the simplest, one word a day. So 120 words in 4 months. The realization of a spreadsheet on Excel will allow to follow the progress day by day.

This forecast is correct with the time to search for the information, write the summary, make a table or an illustration when necessary.

How to edit the book?

The question appears at the beginning of the project. I am obliged to do a desktop publishing, a classic editorial makes a filter. It is to first find the good editorial with its line adapted to my project. Send the draft and wait. If I am lucky enough to be selected, the publisher takes everything into account, and I receive 15% on sales.

Desktop publishing is the opposite, I must do everything from A to Z. Not afraid of work.

Start to look for the information for the creation of a micro company to edit: The DGI in first, Panama Emprende, Ministry of Culture, the ISBN of Panama, a payment system (paguelofacil). I myself go with my wife to an online seminar for a business start-up. We have a beautiful certificate.

Finally, after much reflection, I am going to see AMAZON KDP. Its reputation is worldwide, there is a reason. I really find a facility to edit a book. Most concerns disappear with AMAZON. Only to see the requirements well, and make the good book format.

Writing

I start the writing of the book on May 1, 2021. It is Labor Day, so it is a good date.

From this date until today on June 22, every day I write ... no, every night. The search for the information takes more time. There are controversial theories. I must verify if the controversies are recent or on the contrary they disappear with time. We know that psychology is a science with many evolutions. Likewise, the initial list of selected words evolves. Terms or subject not in direct relation to the subject, are eliminated. In the end there are exactly 100 words.

But in the global I find the appropriate supports: theses, reports, psychology dictionaries, etc.

End of writing

I finish the writing exactly on June 30, 2021 . The 100 words, 17 illustrations make up this book.

Temporary conclusion

The confirmation of my intuition. I cannot find, anywhere, a simple and accessible repertoire on terms. The days go by and my motivation is stronger.

Continuous on the project. Now I am sure that my book is about to come out.
